Thank god for Kirsten!
I had my first child January 2017 at McMaster Children's Hospital with the help of Stoney Creek Midwives and the OB at the hospital.
My daughter was born by C section and unfortunately my milk supply didn’t come in right away, therefore she was formula fed for a good few weeks. Addition to that, she didn’t latch on to my breast and I had to pump the milk to feed her.
After talking to a friend of mine who recommended Kirsten to me, I decided to try/give her a call! Glad I did!
She came by the house for our initial meeting, which went amazing. Her expertise on how to breastfeed a baby helped me achieve my goal.
Breastfeeding is a dedication and its not for everyone. But, I was determined to nurse my daughter and my goal was to nurse her at least 3 months and we are going on our 11th month now!!!
Kirsten helped me to get my daughter to latch on to my breast without a shield helped me gain my confidence back and not to doubt myself that she wasn’t taking enough food.
Please keep in mind, when she leaves your place that she does not stop the communication with you. You can send her a message anytime and she will get back to you as efficient as possible with answers you are looking for.
If you need peace of mind and I sure think all moms do, please see Kirsten because she will help you do that. I would 150% recommend her! Thank you for everything that you have done for my daughter and I
Kirsten is amazing! She helped ease any stress and anxiety I had surrounding breastfeeding our son. She helped to diagnose a latch issue and provided us with resources to remedy it. She has a professional yet gentle hands on approach and I immediately felt comfortable with her. As a new mom, I had a lot of questions and Kirsten was able to answer them all and make breastfeeding an enjoyable experience for both myself and my son. I thank her for all of the support and guidance she has given to me and I would definitely recommend Kirsten to any mom!
I met Kirsten through my Doula after the birth of my baby boy. I knew I'd need an LC due to my inverted nipples and my deep desire to breast feed. Without a doubt, I was determined and Kirsten believed in me, when I had very little support from my own family! Kirsten saw me through: nipple shields, calendula creams, vitamins, pumping, hot compresses and "oh yes - kleenex donuts." I would recommend Kirsten to any new mother who has a desire to breast feed. Kirsten has a lovely deposition, she is compassionate, and devoted to her clients. Kirsten checked in with me constantly, and we communicated often about any concerns I had. At this point, my son is 7 months old, and is still breast feeding. I never imagined with my thyroid condition, and my ripe age of 42, that I could successfully breast feed. It has been the most enjoyable journey I could ever have had with my little one. I want to encourage other mothers to seek help through an LC; and I truly believe women need each others support through this process and journey!
I cannot say enough good things about Kirsten! I did a breastfeeding course with her while still pregnant and received some great information. Once my son was born we had a bit of a rough start - low supply, tongue tie and ending up in the NICU for 4 days with jaundice. Kirsten was amazing through this all and was always there to answer all my questions - I am forever thankful for that! She helped me come up with a plan to raise my supply, went through tongue tie release exercises with me, and always asked how I was doing with it all as well. With my first son I didn't have this kind of support, and I was only able to breastfeed for a couple of months. I am so thankful that the second time around I had such awesome support, I honestLy wouldn't have been able to do it without!
